Annie started with Quality CNA Training in 2022, and is our primary Day Course instructor for La Crosse.
Annie has been working in healthcare since 2014, when she provided care for a group of disabled women during her last year of college at Minnesota State University – Mankato. After moving to Onalaska with her husband, she continued to provide care for the disabled.
Once in Wisconsin, she decided to pursue a nursing degree, and began working as a CNA at the Onalaska Care Center. She continued working there as an LPN and after graduation as an RN. She later transitioned to caring for residents in assisted living at Havenwood of Onalaska. She remained there until she decided to pursue a position in education.
“I truly believe that my inspiration for working in healthcare came from spending so much time with my grandparents as a child. I also enjoyed working with the disabled, but eldercare has been my true passion. I know that there is so much to learn from the elderly and see the value of spending time with them. They are often forgotten and overlooked but have so much to offer to enrich the lives of those lucky enough to care for them,” Annie says.
Her favorite part of teaching CNA classes is passing on her passion and knowledge to the next generation of caretakers. She loves to watch students gain confidence and apply what they learn in class to real situations and experiences.
“It gives me hope that great caretakers will continue to enter the field and make a difference in the lives of those that they care for!”
Jennie Klar joined the Quality CNA Training team in October of 2023, and has been in healthcare for 23 years! She started her journey like many of our students, as a CNA right after graduating from high school. Being a nurse was a childhood dream that came to fruition in 2001. She began in a medical/surgical (post-surgery) position and then moved to cardiology, but the majority of her career has been in home care/hospice.
She lives on a hobby farm with her husband and three dogs. As a prolific canner and preserver, Jennie also sustainably contributes to personal health and well-being. She has many animals and large gardens, all of which are tended with the care and love required for maximum potential, just like nurturing a student. Jennie says, “This job allows me the flexibility to do what I love (which is teaching) and still have time for homesteading.”
According to her, the best part of being a CNA Instructor is “getting to know each of the students who have a desire to go into the healthcare field. With a high demand for CNAs and other healthcare jobs, I am helping to transform eager learners into qualified professional candidates who can fill these shoes.”
